Career Center Opportunity

THE CHALLENGE

Momentous had published Oregon State’s Official Visitor Guide in printed and digital formats for over a decade, funding those entirely through advertiser support. In response to this successful partnership, the OSU Career Center asked if Momentous could use a similar model to publish a Career Guide, funding the guide through advertising of potential employers.

They had published a similar printed guide several years before for use only in the Career Center. Students regularly asked to “check them out” to take them to their dorms and apartments, but there were not enough copies. The Career Center’s vision was to create a printed guide for “every student who wanted one,” however, that was cost prohibitive.

THE SOLUTION

Momentous increased the industries represented by advertisers, which helped the Career Center broaden the perception of the type of recruiters coming to OSU. Several advertisers we attracted were not engaging with OSU students and did so after their participation in the Career Guide.

THE RESULTS

Over 6,000 printed copies were distributed within the first six weeks alone at career fairs and satellite campuses. There was a strong demand from career advisors, academic advisors and faculty to use the guide for student coaching.

Career advisors reported very positive feedback from students. As students reviewed the printed guides during sessions, advisors observed that it helped increase awareness of available tools and resources within the Career Center.
